Thursday night’s Southeastern Conference matchup with No. 14 Florida was a tale of two halves for the Ole Miss Rebels.
Everything that could go right for the Rebels did in the first 20 minutes of action at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum.
They hit shots at an exceptional rate, got rebounds on both ends of the floor and did a great job of slowing down the SEC’s top offense to the tune of 28 points. But as good as the Rebels were in the opening half, the Gators proved to be that much better when it counted down the stretch.
The end result was a 64-60 win for Florida and coach Billy Donovan, who saw his team earn just its second victory away from home in the process.
Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy pointed out the positives in his postgame press conference, but he also lamented the fact that the Rebels made more than enough mistakes to ensure their first loss at home this year as well. (January 27, 2012, Page 6A)
