Oxford’s perfect mark in girls basketball remained intact thanks to two impressive performances over the weekend, while the Chargers got aggressive to win their first region game at home Friday night.
The Lady Chargers improved to 18-0 on the year thanks to a 79-34 win over Saltillo on Friday night in the OHS gym and a 62-51 win over Ripley on Saturday in the Belmont Cardinal Classic. Ripley won last year’s Class 3A state championship and was 18-1 heading into the matchup.
OHS coach Shayne Linzy said the contest with Ripley was exactly what his team needed heading into the final stages of the regular season, and more specifically, Tuesday’s matchup with Lafayette. (January 16, 2012, Page 7)
