Golson getting reacquainted to baseball

The ping of aluminum bats filled the cool, quiet air surrounding Oxford-University Stadium on Monday.

After months of hibernation the air is once again coming alive with the 2012 college baseball season right around the corner.

For most of the Ole Miss players, Monday marked the first time in two-plus months that they have taken to the O-U Stadium field.

For one player, it’s been a much longer hiatus from the baseball diamond.

Senquez Golson spent the fall as a member of the Ole Miss football team.

A former Boston Red Sox draft pick, Golson must now transition from playing cornerback for the football team to roaming the outfield for the baseball team. (January 17, 2012, Page 9)
