Coffeeville claims rivalry sweep

COFFEEVILLE — Turnovers were at the forefront of Water Valley’s doubleheader loss at county rival Coffeeville on Friday.

The Lady Blue Devils fell to CHS 59-33 amidst a bevy of turnovers, while the Water Valley boys were unable to maintain their composure late in their 59-54 loss to the Pirates.

In the girls matchup, the Lady Blue Devils were unable to solve Coffeeville’s full-court pressure and at times were unable to get the ball across midcourt safely.

After trailing 18-9 following the first quarter, the Lady Blue Devils went into the half facing a 36-15 deficit and were never able to flip the momentum on the home team. (January 9, 2012, Page 7)
