Wife of New Albany football coach shot

NEW ALBANY (AP) — Police say the wife of New Albany High School’s football coach has been killed in a shooting at their home that also wounded the coach.

New Albany Police Chief David Grisham says the shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Monday.

Grisham says it appears Amanda Price may have gone outside with their dog and startled someone in the back yard. She began to scream and was shot.

Grisham says coach Ron Price, who was inside the house, was shot while responding to his wife’s screams. He was brought to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo for treatment.

Grisham said there weren’t any suspects in the shooting. (December 6, 2011, Page 7)
