Tornadoes standing in way of 4A repeat

A season filled with high expectations and a certain degree of pressure now comes down to one, exciting game left for the Lafayette Commodores.

Lafayette advanced back to the MHSAA’s Class 4A title game Saturday in Jackson by defeating Amory 35-7 in the North Half title game. It was the third straight win in that game for the Commodores, who also became the only reigning state champion team to get back to Jackson in 2011.

That is a fact not lost on LHS coach Anthony Hart, who has guided his team to 31 straight wins. Hart said it felt good to be back in the title game after dealing with the pressure of getting back to Jackson. (December 1, 2011, Page 6)
