On top again: ‘Dores take wind out of Tornadoes

JACKSON — About 30 seconds after Lafayette wrapped up its second straight MHSAA Class 4A state title at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium, head coach Anthony Hart embraced his youngest son Derek with a huge bear hug.

The moment may have only lasted a few seconds, but the memory of winning yet another title will be cherished forever by Hart, his family and all the LHS supporters who were on hand to watch the contest.

If the win over Amory in the 4A North Half title game brought Hart a sense of relief, then Saturday’s 39-29 win over Laurel provided nothing but joy and pride to a program that has arguably been the state’s best over the last three seasons. (December 5, 2011, Page 1B)
