OHS hoops splits on Day 1

The Oxford Chargers split on Day 1 of the 2011 Jaguar Challenge in Hoover, Ala. on Tuesday. The ninth-grade squad lost 40-36 to Homewood (Ala.) depite 10 points from Michael McGhee and K.T. McCollins.

The varsity squad defeated Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) 78-63.

Justin Fondren had a team-high 28 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks, while Romeo Johnson had 21 points and seven rebounds.

The ninth graders (6-1 overall) will play Hewitt-Trussville today at 11:45 a.m., while the varsity squad (10-2) will play host school Spain Park tonight at 7:30 in the semifinals. (December 21, 2011, Page 7)
