JACKSON — Lafayette High School quarterback Jeremy Liggins called it bittersweet.
LHS head football coach Anthony Hart called it special.
Lafayette’s fan base called it dominance.
However you want to slice it or describe it, Lafayette’s Commodores are champions again in the MHSAA’s 4A classification. The Commodores capped another perfect season Saturday evening at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium with a 39-29 win over Laurel. The victory was not only the team’s 32nd in a row, but it was the second consecutive year that LHS had done the improbable — finish a season unblemished and with 16 wins next to its name.
