WVMS-LMS split

Water Valley and Lafayette split a pair of middle school basketball games Tuesday night in the LMS gym. Lafayette swept the seventh-grade games, while Water Valley won the final two games to cap the night.

Lafayette defeated Water Valley 26-2 in the seventh-grade girls contest. Shaniyah Buford led the Lady Commodores with 14 points, while Kemaria Kinds had six points.

Cory Williams scored 12 points in the boys’ seventh-grade game won 27-5 by the Commodores. Atarius Owens had seven points, while Tyler Williams had five points.

Water Valley won the eighth-grade girls game 25-15 thanks to 13 points turned in by KeKe Farrow. Kim Murray led Lafayette with five points, while Shelby Buford had four points.

Water Valley won the eighth-grade boys contest, 27-18, thanks to 13 points from Mark Gooch and seven points from Q. Woodard. Zeke Liggins led Lafayette with eight points, while Rashun Rockette had five points.

Water Valley will be back in action Thursday at home against Charleston at 5 p.m. Lafayette returns to action Monday on the road at Batesville starting 5 p.m. (November 2, 2011, Page 9)
