Lafayette’s quest to win a second straight Class 4A state title may have started 11 weeks ago at Tupelo, but the official start to the playoffs begins Friday night at William L. Buford Stadium. The Commodores, who finished ranked No. 1 in Class 4A and as the No. 2 overall team in the state in the Associated Press poll Tuesday, are five wins away from another perfect 16-0 record and a state title.
In order for the Commodores to accomplish that goal, they have to beat Leake Central at home this week and keep advancing all the way to Jackson Coliseum. (November 3, 2011, Page 9)
