MHSAA considering new sites for football championships
JACKSON (AP) — Mississippi’s high school football championship games could be coming to a stadium — or university — near you.
The Mississippi High School Activities Association is open to exploring other sites for the organization’s six football title games, which will be played for the 20th straight year this week at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson. (more…) (November 29, 2011, Page 7)
OHS Booster Club meeting Thursday
The Oxford Booster Club will host its monthly meeting Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the OHS lecture center. Girls soccer coach Laura Flint will be present along with the girls soccer team to discuss the season. Also present, coach Scott Kendricks and the cross-country teams to celebrate their outstanding season.
Members and non-members are invited to attend. The Booster Club will also have a Christmas shop set up in the Oxford commons at OHS from 3:30-5:30 p.m. where you can purchase Charger products. (November 29, 2011, Page 7)

Monday’s obituaries
- Carol Jean Billingsley Alexander — 76, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, with the Rev. Randy Hope officiating. Burial will follow in Abbeville Cemetery in Abbeville. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 this evening at the funeral home.
- Glenda Baird Bethea — 72, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at her home in Water Valley. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Visitation will be held for three hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
- Mary Frances Davis — 80, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. Burial was in Laurel. A memorial service will be held at a later time. Baldwin Lee Funeral Home of Pearl was in charge of arrangements.
- Annie Lucinda Owens — 67, died Saturday at her home in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Serenity-Martin Funeral Home of Oxford.
Rebels looking forward

Bulldogs top Rebels in Nutt’s finale
STARKVILLE — Houston Nutt sat down to deliver his final postgame press conference as Ole Miss’ head football coach following Saturday’s 31-3 loss to Mississippi State at Davis Wade Stadium. Even though there wasn’t a podium for Nutt to stand behind and answer questions from the media, after a season that produced the most losses (10) in the history of the program, Nutt probably felt more like sitting and resting than anything else.
