Historical, Genealogical Society
The Lafayette County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Genealogy Room on the second floor of the Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library, 401 Bramlett Blvd. Kaye McCulley, the guest speaker, will discuss the topic, “Souvenir of a Civil War Battle at Franklin, Tennessee, with a Lafayette County Connection.” The public is invited to this free program. Tallahatchie Toastmasters
The Tallahatchie Toastmasters will meet at 7 this evening at Cedar Oaks on 601 Murray Drive. Anyone interested in improving their public speaking skills or learning leadership skills are welcome to come to the meeting. The meeting is expected to last one hour. (November 30, 2011)

More Faulkner movies in our future?
Here’s some exciting news for fans of William Faulkner: David Milch’s Redboard Productions has entered into an agreement with the William Faulkner Literary Estate to produce films and television series based on Faulkner’s vast body of works. The deal, according to a news release issued this morning by the Bing Communications Group in Los Angeles, notes that the agreement covers all 19 novels and 125 short stories in the estate, “as well as other works, with the exception of those currently contracted with other parties.” (November 30, 2011)
Bank robbers still at large
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department is still searching for two male suspects believed to have taken a large sum of money during an armed robbery at the Abbeville branch of the Bank of Holly Springs in Abbeville Tuesday. (November 30, 2011, Page 1)

- Ronald W. Tatum — 54, died this morning at his home in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home of Oxford.
Manning doing his best to lead Giants
NEW ORLEANS — Eli Manning didn’t have much to smile about after his New York Giants fell to his hometown New Orleans Saints 49-24 Monday night.

Lady Commodores nip Bruce
A fast start and a good display of toughness late in the game proved to be the winning formula for the Lafayette Lady Commodores Tuesday night in the LHS gym.
LHS won its first game of the season with a 57-55 triumph over Bruce, a game that coach Amy Sutton said helped her team find their identity. (November 30, 2011, Page 9)
