Oxford Middle School hoops sweeps Myrtle

Oxford earned four wins over Myrtle in middle school hoops action Monday. The seventh-grade girls won 24-2, the eighth-grade Lady Chargers won 27-5, while the eighth-grade Chargers won 27-25.

Tiara King led the seventh-grade Lady Chargers with 12 points, while Takayla Phillips added four points. Kyla Malone had 13 points, while Omoye Pegues had six points for the eighth graders. Zach Smith led the seventh-grade Chargers with eight points. Jarkel Joiner had six points and five steals, A.J. Gable had six points, while Kyle Rock and Giles Lamar were credited with good defense and hustle. Korbin Harmon led Oxford with six points, Zach Jenkins had four points, while Tag Gatlin was credited with good defense and rebounding. All four Oxford teams return to action Thursday at Ripley starting with the seventh-grade girls game at 5 p.m. (November 15, 2011, Page 7)
