OHS hoops splits with Coldwater

Oxford remained undefeated Thursday night with a 65-52 win over Coldwater.

Erika Sisk scored 30 points and had nine steals, while Kristen Dickerson added 11 points and eight rebounds. Ivory Alexander and Meisha Gilliom each scored eight points, while Amber Sisk had six points. Oxford led 22-20 at the half and broke the game open by outscoring Coldwater 28-11 in the third quarter.

OHS coach Shayne Linzy said the team’s pressure defense took its toll on Coldwater as the game wore on.

Oxford’s game with Calhoun City Thursday is canceled, while both OHS team return to action Nov. 29 against Ashland.

OHS boys fall to Coldwater
Oxford’s boys were handed their first loss of the season Thursday, rallying from an 18-point deficit only to lose to Coldwater 78-76. Romeo Johnson led Oxford (4-1 overall) with 32 points and 12 rebounds, while Justin Fondren scored 18 and Luke Gibbs chipped in 13.

Due to the football playoffs, Oxford’s game on Monday against Amory has been rescheduled for January, and Oxford’s game against Calhoun City on Tuesday was canceled.

The OHS boys won’t return to action until Nov. 26, when the Chargers travel to Houston to play Corinth in a boys-only game. Tip is set for 1:30 p.m. (November 18, 2011, Page 7A)
