No. 1 LSU knees Ole Miss 52-3

LSU coach Les Miles may have decided Saturday’s game with Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium was over with five minutes left in the contest when he instructed quarterback Zach Mettenberger to kneel the ball four straight times instead of score another touchdown from the Ole Miss 1-yard line.

The reality is the game was over four plays into the contest when Ole Miss’ starting quarterback Zack Stoudt threw an errant pass that was picked off by LSU’s Ron Brooks and returned 46 yards for the first of seven Tiger touchdowns on the evening.

Ole Miss avoided seeing the 11-0 Tigers score 59 points Saturday, but the 52-3 setback was still the worst score differential for the Rebels in the entire history of the series between the two schools. (November 21, 2011, Page 1B)
