Liggins runs ‘Dores into 4A North Half title game

The Lafayette High football team finds itself in familiar territory — heading to play for the Class 4A North Half title.

For the third consecutive year the Commodores will be playing for a chance to go to Jackson thanks to a 28-6 win over Louisville on Friday night at William L. Buford Stadium in the quarterfinals of the MHSAA playoffs.

The ‘Dores (14-0 overall) extended their winning streak to 30 consecutive games with the win over the Wildcats.

Equally as impressive as the streak, is that this year’s LHS senior football players wrapped up their varsity careers at home undefeated.

The last time one of coach Anthony Hart’s Lafayette squads lost at home was on Oct. 31, 2008, a 13-12 setback to Gentry. (November 21, 2011, Page 1B)
