Defense, free-throw shooting pace Lady Rebs in win

An outstanding defensive effort and some timely baskets late inside from Nikki Byrd proved to be the difference for the Ole Miss Lady Rebels in their 54-45 win over South Alabama Friday evening at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum.

Ole Miss (2-1 overall) bounced back from its loss to Lamar by shutting down the Lady Jaguars (2-1) on defense. USA only shot 25.8 percent from the field, while leading scorer, Camille Reynolds, was held 17 points below her season average thanks to a great individual effort on defense by Amber Singletary. (November 21, 2011, Page 2B)
