BLOG — Ole Miss’ search for a new head football coach is continuing to progress as the five-members assigned to help hire that next person was officially announced.Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones told the media Monday during the press conference announcement that Houston Nutt would not return as head coach that former Rebel quarterback Archie Manning and Mike Glenn, an executive vice president with FedEx, would be leading the search committee as co-chairmen.
Three more names were added to the committee Friday, according to information released through the school. Those names include Richard Noble, the Ole Miss Alumni Association President; Ron Rychlak, the Chair of the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee and Ethel Young-Minor, who is currently an Associate Professor after starting her tenure at Ole Miss in 1996 as an English and African American Studies instructor.
Today will be the first time the committee meets to discuss coaching candidates and other things associated with the search. Bob Beaudine, a principal in Eastman & Beaudine, a national search firm, will also assist in the search for a new coach.
“We are immensely grateful for the commitment each and every one of the committee members will make to finding a championship-caliber leader for Ole Miss football,” Jones said in a statement. “The eagerness of the Ole Miss family to contribute in every way is what makes this university so special.”
Manning also commented on the search process through Ole Miss.
“We are excited about representing Ole Miss in this important search and look forward to sharing all of the incredible things about this university with candidates,” Manning said. “We will not rest until we have found the best person to lead Ole Miss football.” (November 12, 2011)
