Holiday Tour of Homes
The Junior Auxiliary of Oxford will host the Holiday Tour of Homes from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 10 and 11. Participating homes being featured this year will be: Floyd and Stephanie Hubbell, 425 Turnberry Court; Bill and Carole Dye, 233 Saint Andrews Circle; Robert and Jane Kerr Nance, 703 Muirfield Drive; and Robert and Roan Grantham, 8 Oak Place. Ornament Auction
The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council will host its annual ornament auction, featuring one of a kind ornaments created by local artists from delicate hand painted water color stars to fused glass, from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center. Artist donate of their talents to support the Arts Council’s efforts to provide programs, educational workshops and community events. The event features a holiday tasting menu by local restaurants and caterers. Tickets to the event are the cost of an annual membership in the Arts Council. Milk ’n’ Cookies With Santa
The eighth annual Milk ’n’ Cookies with Santa will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church, 403 University Ave. A donation of $10 will be taken at door. The donation includes two 4×6 professional pictures by Rick Addy and snacks. All proceeds will benefit Family Crisis Services’ clients and services. For more information, call 234-9929. Christmas Parade
The city of Oxford Christmas Parade will be held at 7 p.m. Monday. The parade will start at the Mid-Town Shopping Center and end at the Gertrude Ford Center parking lot at Old Taylor Road. All parade participants are asked to assemble in Mid-Town Shopping Center as soon as possible on parade day. The theme this year is “Dreams of Christmas.” Trophies will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place winners. Entry forms can be picked up and dropped off at the Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce or at Bank of Commerce, both on West Jackson Avenue. (November 30, 2011)
Memorial Program
The Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home will have its annual Holiday Memorial program at 4 p.m. Sunday at Philadelphia M.B. Church. The public is invited. (November 30, 2011)
Cedar Oaks Christmas Open House
Cedar Oaks will host a Christmas Open House from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the historic home located at 601 Murray Drive. Tours of the home will be provided and the home will be decorated for Christmas. Attendees are welcome to bring a camera and take their Christmas photo in front of one of the many trees that will be adorned in period decorations. The cookbook, “’Gimme Some Sugar Darlin’,” will also be available. Hosted by the Cedar Oaks Guide, proceeds from the open house will benefit the various guild projects. (November 30, 2011)
Theater Auditions
Theatre Oxford will hold auditions at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center for “Glengarry Glen Ross” by David Mamet. The performance dates are Feb. 24 and 25. Roles are available for seven men. Those planning to audition should prepare a one minute monologue. ‘An Oxford Christmas’
“An Oxford Christmas” returns for two performances this year that will feature more than 200 voices, a full orchestra, soloists and some of Mississippi’s top musicians. The concert has become a holiday tradition in the community, containing Christmas standards, beloved carols, and favorite songs from holiday TV specials. The free concert, open to everyone, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Gertrude Ford Center. Christmas Dance Party
The Ole Miss Ballroom Dance Club will host a Christmas Dance Party from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the Ole Miss Band Hall on University Avenue. The dance will feature a fox trot lesson as well as open dancing to all styles of music and dance. Refreshments will be provided and recommended attire should be dressy. Everyone — all ages and dance levels — is welcome. No partner and no dance experience necessary.

Christmas Bird Feeder Program
The North Mississippi Fish Hatchery Visitor Education Center adjacent to Enid Lake will host its annual Christmas bird feeder program at 2 p.m. Saturday. Those participating will have the opportunity to learn about common birds seen in backyard feeders. The activities will include making edible ornaments and painting birdbaths for all the songbirds. Participants will also discover how to make home-made suet feeders for woodpeckers.
All the supplies are provided again this year along with easy-to-follow instructions and hands-on help. Participants should come dressed to create messy but interesting treats for feathered visitors this Christmas season.
Program is free with price of admission. Admission is $2.50 for adults ages 18-59, and $2 for youngsters ages 3-17 and adults over the age of 60.
