The University of Mississippi will aid in suicide awareness and prevention by hosting the second annual Out of the Darkness Community Walk. Together with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, local hosts include the University of Mississippi Clinical Disaster Research Collaborative, Psychological Services Center, Department of Psychology and Psychology Honors Society.
The walk will take place Nov. 5 in the Lyceum Circle on the UM campus. Registration starts and 8 a.m., opening ceremonies begin at 9, and the 1.5-mile walk through campus starts at 9:30. Following the walk, participants are welcome to enjoy food, live music, and discussion with each other as well as mental health experts from the University and community.
People can register at www.outofthedarkness.org by clicking on the “Find an Event Near You” and signing up for the Lafayette-Oxford University Walk. Registration is free. Proceeds from the Out of the Darkness Community Walk will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
