OM Rebs to host Red-Blue scrimmage on Saturday

The Ole Miss baseball team will hold its Red-Blue Scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. prior to the Rebels’ football game against second-ranked Alabama and admission to the scrimmage is free to the public.

It’s part of a weekend full of activities on campus and is the second of three scrimmages to be held by the Diamond Rebels this weekend. Ole Miss will take the field for a 2:30 p.m. scrimmage today and at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday for the final scrimmage of the weekend.

“It’s a great opportunity this weekend to come out and see the 2012 Rebels and the third-ranked recruiting class in the country,” said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. “It’s also a chance for the fans to see a lot of familiar faces who return for another year.”

This year’s team features 21 returning players and a group of 20 newcomers who comprise the No. 3 recruiting class in the country as selected by Collegiate Baseball.

Ole Miss opens the 2012 season on February 17 with a three-game series at TCU. (October 14, 2011, Page 7A)
