The difficulty of upsetting No. 2 Alabama on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium only increased for the Ole Miss Rebels Thursday when coach Houston Nutt announced four players would miss the game due to suspension.
Senior running back Brandon Bolden, senior offensive guard Alex Washington, junior center A.J. Hawkins and sophomore wide receiver Philander Moore will miss Saturday’s contest due to a “violation of team rules” Nutt said following Thursday’s practice.
Nutt didn’t go in to detail as to why the four players would miss the game, but he added that it did not involve criminal behavior or the use of illegal substances. Nutt said the transgressions happened on Wednesday afternoon and that he was surprised by the players’ actions. (October 14, 2011, Page 6A)
