Ermin Memorial Bike Ride

When: 10/16/2011
Posted in: ,

The Lafayette-Oxford-University community is invited to ride this Sunday in memory and celebration of the life of Kevser Ermin, a cyclist who lost her life last week while riding on Highway 314. The public is encouraged to meet at 2:45 p.m. at the Lyceum on the UM campus, and depart at 3. A family friendly one-mile ride will kick off the group ride with more advanced cyclists riding the 28-mile round trip to Sardis at Clear Creek Landing and back to the Lyceum. The commemorative bike ride is to celebrate the life of Ermin and also to raise awareness about “sharing the road” in the Lafayette Oxford University community and statewide. Sharing the road ensures a greater quality of life for all citizens when users of the road experience both personal freedom and safety when choosing their mode of transportation, whether they walk, run, hike and bicycle in the community. The John Paul Frerer Bicycle Safety Act, also known as the “Bicycle Safety Law” includes a three-foot passing requirement.
