The answer to the question of exactly who the best team in Region 2-4A this year was answered in impressive fashion by the No. 1 ranked Lafayette Commodores Thursday night at William L. Buford Stadium. LHS showed its immense talent and depth on offense, defense and special teams with a one-sided 49-7 whitewashing of North Pontotoc.
Thursday’s victory not only gave the Commodores their 11th win on the year, it also garnered yet another milestone, a third straight region title.
LHS coach Anthony Hart, who has led his team to 27 straight wins now, talked about how far his Commodores have progressed since they lost the region title game in 2008 against Cleveland. (October 28, 2011, Page 8A)
