The promotion comes just over two weeks after Pomeranz had an emergency appendectomy, an operation that was expected to end his season.
Pomeranz finished his whirlwind minor league year — that was split between the Cleveland Indians and Rockies organizations — with a 4-3 overall record between and a 1.78 ERA.
In 101.0 innings, Pomeranz struck out 119 and walked just 38. Opponents were hitting just .189 off of the southpaw.
Pomeranz, a fifth overall pick in 2010, was a key player in a trade earlier this year that sent starter Ubaldo Jimenez to the Indians. (September 6, 2011, Page 7)
