Top ranking or not, the Lafayette Commodores aren’t going to let the recognition as Mississippi’s best team go to their head.
Lafayette (5-0 overall) won’t be afforded that luxury, as Friday the Commodores will host a tough Pontotoc Warriors squad.
The Warriors are 4-1 on the year.
After defeating Velma Jackson (20-16), Hernando (30-26), New Albany (20-6) and Ripley (20-18), the Warriors lost to North Pontotoc in a rivalry game last weekend 14-10.
Despite the loss, Lafayette coach Anthony Hart was very complementary of the Warriors and said he expects a hard-fought matchup on Friday. (September 22, 2011, Page 6)
