Liggins, Dennis pace Commodores in rout of Shannon

SHANNON — The fast start Lafayette Commodores coach Anthony Hart had been looking for from his football team finally came Friday night in Shannon.

Lafayette opened up the first quarter of play with 28 unanswered points en route to a 56-14 win over the Red Raiders, pushing the No. 1 ranked ‘Dores winning streak to 21 games.

LHS quarterback Jeremy Liggins got things started when he found Colby Terrell on a slant route over the middle of the field for a 55-yard touchdown on the ‘Dores third offensive play of the game. Liggins found another target over the middle on the ‘Dores next drive, hitting DeBrico Burgess on a slant route for a 37-yard touchdown pass to put LHS (5-0 overall) ahead 14-0 with 3:42 to play in the opening quarter. (September 19, 2011, Page 3B)
