Led by the running of Devontae Rogers and Kam Herod, as well as some key defensive stops, the Lafayette junior varsity football team defeated Grenada 24-7 Tuesday night at William L. Buford Stadium.
The Commodores started the scoring on a 14-yard run for a touchdown by quarterback Dylan Busby. Rogers put Lafayette ahead for good with a 35-yard run, while Herod salted the contest away with touchdown runs that covered 10 and 38 yards. Cam Pettis had an interception in the win, while Shi-lo Woodard recovered a fumble.
Lafayette will return to action Monday at Oxford at 6 p.m. (September 7, 2011, Page 6)
