BLOG: Water Valley — The Blue Devils didn’t have an answer for Charleston’s speedy duo of quarterback Antwan Wilson and running back Percy O’Bannon tonight at Bobby Clark Field.
The Tigers scored on the opening drive of the game and would go on to find the end zone five more times en route to a 39-3 victory over Water Valley.O’Bannon scored on runs of 38 and 3 yards, while Wilson had touchdown runs of 29 and 22 yards in addition to a 34-yard touchdown pass to his running back.
DeShadrick Truly added a 96-yard kick return for a touchdown to complete Charleston’s scoring in the contest.
Water Valley’s lone score came via a 33-yard field goal by freshman kicker Alex Robles.
Following the loss, Water Valley coach Brad Embry said the game snowballed on his team early and that his squad will need to reqroup quickly and move on from the loss.
“Put this out of your head,” he told his team during the post-game talk, “it won’t do anything but hold you back.”
The Blue Devils (3-2 overall) will take to the road next Friday, traveling to J.Z. George. (September 16, 2011)
