Chargers looking to knock off New Hope

Oxford High football coach Johnny Hill couldn’t find too many things to be displeased with in his team’s Region 1-5A opener. Buoyed by an off week that allowed the team to refresh and refocus on the start of region play, the Chargers walloped Center Hill 34-14 last Friday night at home.

Hill thought the performance was the best of the season and the stats definitely prove that he’s right. Oxford forced a season-high seven turnovers and then used short fields to its advantage on offense. Quarterback Parker Adamson threw the ball better than he has all season and even though standout running back Mont Dean was held out of the lineup for violation of team rules, the running game was productive if not spectacular. (September 29, 2011, Page 6)
