Bulldogs to play MVSU

STARKVILLE (AP) — Mississippi State and Mississippi Valley State will play in the play in the season opener on Aug. 31, 2012, in Starkville.

Mississippi State athletic director Scott Stricklin made the announcement Tuesday.

Stricklin says MSU will pay MVSU $350,000.

The Delta Devils will be the third Mississippi historically black university to play MSU over a five-year span.

Mississippi State played Jackson State in 2009 and played Alcorn State last season. MSU won both games.

Mississippi State will play Jackson State again in the 2012 season opener. The Tigers will receive more than $650,000 for the two games. (September 21, 2011, Page 6)
