BLOG: Water Valley started off its 2011 football season with a bang on Friday evening, blanking Independence on the road 42-0.
Oxford transfer Jeoffrey Gordon led Water Valley’s rushing attack against an over-matched Wildcats squad.
Gordon scored on the Blue Devils’ very first offensive play of the game on a 31-yard run and finished the game with 109 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries.
Defensively, C.J. Jackson had a team-high 11 total tackles, while Q. Bailey was second on the team with 10.
The Blue Devils will get back at it next Friday in a rivalry game against Coffeeville. (August 20, 2011)
