Three-day endurance weekend begins Friday

Some of the best trained athletes in the county and state will be on display this weekend during the SmartSync Oxford Endurance Weekend. The three-day event begins Friday at 7 with the Rowan Oak 5K presented by The Inn at Ole Miss.

Saturday’s list of events includes a triathlon that is presented by the Oxford Park Commission at 7 a.m., at the city pool.

The Race of Truth Time Trial, presented by the City of Oxford, begins at 8:30 a.m. and starts at the Chamber of Commerce, while the Plein Air Classic Road Race, an eight-mile bike ride, begins at 1 p.m.

Sunday’s final day of events begins at 7 a.m. and includes the Oxford Square Criterium presented by Baptist Hospital. This portion of the weekend requires that the Square be blocked off and free of vehicles. (August 4, 2011, Page 6)
