The Ole Miss soccer team’s intrasquad scrimmage on Wednesday night had virtually everything, from acrobatic saves and hard challenges to fast-break scoring opportunities.
The only thing it was missing was a goal in regulation.
After approximately one hour of scoreless soccer, head coach Matthew Mott made the executive decision to begin pulling one player from every team — every minute — until someone scored.
The idea was to open up the game and allow for more scoring opportunities.
Goalkeepers Alley Ronaldi and Kelly McCormick kept the match scoreless by making point-blank save after point-blank save until senior Kendyl Mygatt picked up a breakout pass from Ronaldi with the teams down to just 2-on-2, deked McCormick just beyond midfield and deposited an empty netter.
