Oxford, Water Valley take part in Football Fest
Oxford Middle School’s Fall Football Fest turned out to be a positive for both the seventh and eighth graders on the field Saturday. Five other schools joined Oxford in the tournament held at Ole Miss’ Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
The games were used to help teams work on fundamentals and fine tune offensive and defensive systems. Water Valley, Charleston, Center Hill, Grenada and Pontotoc played in the inaugural event. (more…) (August 29, 2011, Page 2B)

Dean, Chargers topple Tigers
CHARLESTON — Oxford’s football game at Charleston Friday night had the makings of a shootout early on, but as the game wore on so did the Chargers on the Tigers.
Oxford eventually withstood the early flurry of scoring to top the Tigers 38-25.
