BLOG — Oxford was literally just seconds away from defeating Shannon in Friday night’s jamboree action at Ole Miss’ Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.That was until Shannon’s Juquevis Cockrell intercepted a pass off the top of his shoes and returned it 98 yards for a touchdown with 21 seconds left on the clock to beat the Chargers 14-7.
Oxford’s lone score in the game also came on an interception return for a score when sophomore Ethan Holmes intercepted a pass and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown. Shannon scored the game’s first touchdown on a deep pass from Jalen Thomas to Devan Gilleylen in the first half.
