‘Dores top Southaven in jamboree action

Lafayette’s first live action since winning last season’s Class 4A state title came in the form of a 21-13 win over Southaven at William L. Buford Stadium Friday evening. While LHS coach Anthony Hart wasn’t worried about the score of the contest that was broken down into two 20-minute halves with a running clock, he was more interested in how his Commodores looked heading into the season opener against Tupelo.

What Hart, and those in attendance, saw was an LHS team that was opportunistic on defense and an offense that played with good effort even if the results weren’t like they were during the 2010 season. (August 15, 2011, Page 1B)
