Thunder top Tribe in CSBL game

The Tupelo Thunder, led by former Lafayette High standout Josh Mills, defeated the Tippah County Tribe 6-3 on Thursday in New Albany. Mills stole four bases, scored two runs and was hit by a pitch in the win.

Former Oxford standout Hunt Halford started for the Tribe and logged 3.1 innings of work before being relieved in the fourth by Vance Hopper. Halford gave up two hits, two runs, none earned, walked four and struck out one. Halford did record a hit in one of three plate appearances. Another former Commodore, Denzel Goolsby, was hit by a Bronson Smith pitch. Ole Miss’ Jimel Judon was 1-for-4 at the plate for the Tribe. (July 1, 2011, Page 9A)
