BLOG — HOOVER, Ala. — The second full day of Southeastern Conference Media Days included visits from Kentucky, Georgia, Auburn and Tennessee.Georgia coach Mark Richt talked about the opener with Boise State in the annual Chic-Fil-A Kickoff Game against Boise State on Sept. 3 in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome. (Ole Miss was scheduled to start its season off with Boise State in Oxford but instead pushed that matchup with the Broncos back to 2014 in Atlanta).
The Bulldogs will be wearing Nike’s Pro Combat uniforms for that opener. The uniforms were shown to the players at a team-only meeting on Wednesday night. Richt said the team was very excited when they first saw the uniform, which will be made public on Aug. 20 at Georgia’s Picture Day.
Senior defensive back Brandon Boykin, who joined QB Aaron Murray in modeling the uniform on Wednesday, said he has been waiting anxiously to wear the new uniform.
“It felt good, it felt great to finally to be a member of that Pro Combat class or whatever you want to call it. To walk into the meeting room and everybody was going crazy. It’s going to add a lot of excitement, not just for us, but for the fans,” Boykin said. “It’s going to look good. Last year you saw Boise State and Virginia Tech playing and they had on those nice uniforms. I was like ‘man, imagine what red and black would look like.’ We finally got our chance and it felt really good and looked good. Everybody is going to be excited when they finally show what it looks like.”
Boykin was joined at Media Days by Murray, who was mobbed by the media, and center Ben Jones.
More from Media Days will be available in Friday’s EAGLE and on the blog. (July 21, 2011)
