Rebels get ‘big’ OL commitment

BLOG — Ole Miss offensive line coach Mike Markuson has to be smiling today after the Rebels picked up a big commitment at the tackle position Sunday morning. Jake Meador, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound tackle prospect from Whiteland, Ind., chose the Rebels over offers from Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, SMU and Vanderbilt. Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Clemson, among others, also showed interest in the tackle.

Meador is considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, while Scout.com has Meador listed as a three-star recruit. He is considered one of the top five prospects in the state of Indiana for the 2012 class and is one of the highest rated tackle prospects in the country.

Meador becomes the seventh verbal commitment for the Rebels for the 2012 class and the second offensive lineman, joining Memphis (University) guard Ben Still in that category. (June 26, 2011)
