‘Dores get a jumpstart on defending title

BATESVILLE — There’s no better time to work on improving than the present.

With a bull’s eye the size of the Magnolia State itself on their back, the defending Class 4A state champion Lafayette Commodores are getting a jump start on preparing for the 2011 season.

On Monday the Commodores packed up a bus full of skill players and coaches and headed west to participate in an informal 7-on-7 scrimmage hosted by South Panola.

Facing perennial power South Panola, in addition to Class 6A foe Grenada, can do nothing but help the Commodores in their grand quest to not only claim another championship, but also be nationally ranked. (June 14, 2011, Page 6)
