The determination to return to the football field as an assistant coach has led to a perfect opportunity and a new challenge for Shane Brown. The former Water Valley assistant and Lafayette High alumnus was hired Monday night to coordinate the defense for the defending Class 2A state champion Lumberton Panthers.
For Brown, who will also teach physical education to children in grades K-6 and serve as a baseball assistant, the chance to work for an energetic coach like Brian Ford and coordinate for the first time was a challenge he was looking forward to. (June 16, 2011, Page 1B)
