The good news keeps coming for the Ole Miss football team. Joining recent qualifiers Tobias Singleton and Jamal Mosley is South Panola All-American Nick Brassell.
According to RebelGrove.com and The Ole Miss Spirit, Brassell received news on Wednesday that he has achieved a qualifying ACT score and is enrolled in Ole Miss’ second summer session.
Brassell was arguably the most-hyped member of Ole Miss’ 2012 signing class and is expected to immediately compete for time at receiver and on special teams. While the 6-foot, 175-pound Brassell is expected to start on offense, he could eventually migrate to the defensive side of the ball. As a senior, Brassell recorded 52 receptions for 875 yards and 13 scores. Brassell hauled in 62 passes for 1,272 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior for the Tigers.
With Brassell’s admittance, the only two members of Ole Miss’ 2012 signing class who have not arrived on campus are Taylorsville linebacker Marcus Mayers and Fullerton (Calif.) Community College cornerback Aaron Garbutt.
Mayers is not expected to qualify, while Garbutt should be in Oxford at some point next month. (June 30, 2011, Page 6)
