As recently as two weeks ago the Southern Miss Golden Eagles appeared to be in play for at least a host spot in the NCAA Tournament with a shot as a national seed.
After going 2-4 against Houston and Rice to conclude the regular season, and 1-2 in the Conference-USA Tournament in Pearl last weekend, Southern Miss now finds itself as the No. 2 seed in the Atlanta Regional.
Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and Austin Peay round out the regional as the 1, 3 and 4 seeds respectively.
Southern Miss’s slide hasn’t changed the team’s mindset moving forward. (June 2, 2011, Page 2B)
