Oxford sophomore Turner Arnold helped lead the Oxford Chargers in the MHSAA’s Class 5A state golf tournament held at the Laurel Country Club on Tuesday and Wednesday. Arnold shot a 77 on Tuesday and a 79 on Wednesday to finish with a 156 and fourth-place finish overall. Arnold was tied for third heading into Wednesday’s final round. Ward Toler followed Arnold with a 172 (88-84). Oxford shot a 355 on Tuesday, which placed the Chargers sixth out of 13 teams competing in the event. New Hope led the first day of competition with a 320 and ended up winning the overall title. (May 12, 2011, Page 7)
