Led by an outstanding pitching performance from senior Zac Barber and some timely hitting early and late, the Oxford Chargers were able to defeat Hernando 6-2 on Saturday afternoon and sweep the Tigers in their second round Class 5A playoff series.
Oxford, which defeated the Tigers 7-5 on Friday night at home, will now take on Neshoba Central in the quarterfinals of the 5A playoffs that begin on Friday night at OHS.
The wins improved the Chargers to 16-10 overall and essentially got them back into a winning rhythm, something they were missing the last few weeks of the regular season. (May 2, 2011, Page 1B)
