Oxford D’Backs make championship game at FNC Park

The Oxford Diamondbacks, a 14-and-Under traveling team composed of players from Lafayette County and Water Valley, recently competed in the Black Bear Bash held at FNC Park.

The Diamondbacks advanced to the championship game of the tournament against the Starkville Dawgs.
Oxford lost 9-5 after leading 5-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. The Diamondbacks advance to the title game by defeating Rebel Baseball, another 14-and-Under travel team from the Lafayette County area.

The Diamondbacks started the tournament with a 9-1 loss to the DC Padres and the rebounded by defeating Rebel Baseball 6-1.

A 12-9 win over the North Mississippi Titans followed before knocking off the top-seeded DC Padres in a rematch, 4-3. (May 26, 2011, Page 7)
