OHS baseball team to honor Stasny

The Oxford baseball will honor former superintendent Dr. Kim Stasny before tonight’s Class 5A playoff series opener against Neshoba Central. Stasny passed away on Wednesday after suffering complications from a brain tumor. The team will wear “KS” patches on their uniforms over the weekend, while fans will receive “KS” stickers. A moment of silence will also be observed before the game at Edwin Moak Field. First pitch in the series is set to begin tonight at 6. The second game in the series will be played on Saturday in Philadelphia at 2 p.m.
A third game, if necessary, would be played back at OHS on Monday. The winner of the series will meet the winner of the Ridgeland-New Hope series next weekend in the 5A North Half title series. The Chargers have not played for a North Half title since the 2005 team won the Class 4A state championship. (May 6, 2011, Page 6A)
