Local players help NWCC capture title

Three former area high school baseball players helped lift the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers to a share of the MACJC North Division title on Saturday.

The Rangers swept Itawamba Community College to finish with an 18-6 overall mark and a 27-16 record. Former WVHS standout Josh Johnson, who plays shortstop for the Rangers, went 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader the Rangers won 11-4. Denzel Goolsby, a former Commodore, had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, while Luke McCullough, another LHS product, scored two runs and garnered a hit. (May 2, 2011, Page 3B)
